In the 2023-2024 school year, I've had the privilege of teaching 7th Grade. I had a total of 90 students. Within all 90 students is a mix of  General Education, a handful of some with disabilities and former English Language Learners. Students were already on grade level for phonological awareness, phonics and high frequency words. Areas of improvement are in Vocabulary, Comprehension of Literature and Comprehension of Informational Text. During the middle of the year (MOY), January 2024, the median percentage growth for the entirety of approximately 90 students is 175%. By the end of the school year, my students overall progress to annual growth reached a staggering 367% overall. Students grew in reading from 51% Middle of Above Grade Level to 77%. This is a 26% growth of students getting mid or above grade level. We can virtually see that from the BOY (2023-2024) to EOY (2023-2024), the increment for students one grade level or below for Vocabulary, Comprehension of Literature and Comprehension of Informational Text is decreasing. This means more students are improving in these areas.
